Support Coders Who Support Artists

Description

Free to use on your blog, page or website!

I've been throwing around making something like this for a while, so here it is!

So, it's becoming an unfortunate, and increasing conflict between artists and coders.
As someone who does both, this is so unfortunate, and easily solvable!
Coders can so easily have better relationships with artists just by doing a few small things!

Firstly, reading rules!
If the image takes your fancy and you want it on your page, be sure to read the description, artists, especially pixel artists do not always create art so it can go on a page. People create art on their own terms, please follow them! Free to use does not mean that you can edit images, re-upload them, this is no better than stealing and all we want is our work to be respected.
This can lead people to tighten rules on their free to use art, and make them less likely to create!
if your not sure if you can use an image or not, if an image is not plainly marked "Free to use" or you are not sure if you are allowed to do something with the work, note the artist, or leave a comment! I always thank people for asking permission to use work if they are not sure! It's a lot more polite than having an artist chase you up for misusing their work.

Secondly, crediting artists!
If you're not using your own original graphics, be sure to keep track of what you are using and from who. I'm personally so happy when someone has mentioned me, and has used my work in their code! Crediting people in the description is a great way we can see what you've done.

Thirdly, link back!
I can't tell you how much work i can't find that i've loved just because it was a direct image link! It's very easy to link back, just use the thumbcode, or when using HTML use:
< a href="ARTIST LINK" >< img src="IMAGE LINK" /> < /a >

I thank, and support any coder who keeps artists in mind when making work, i hope people follow your example!

I honestly think some pixel artists are a bit finicky and, if I may say, unreasonable with
people who, just want to show their codes (because how else could they show what the code looks like
if they're aren't any images/pixels? F2U ones, that is) but that's my opinion, especially when I'm pretty laid back
at the fact that I don't mind if people upload a code with one of my pixels on there because, in turn, they give credit either
in the description or have a "thumb" code in their code (even if they didn't, I wouldn't complain; life is too short for that).
Because I also know that people will find who made what pixel one way or another.

I do agree with this, but I honestly think if the pixel artists don't want their pixels used for codes, they should
be specific and not be rude about it like some (cough↓)

I agree with you on coders, but I really think pixel artists should be fair about what they offer as "free". The "Free to use"
can be misleading, for anyone, even to new-comers to dA. Sure, giving credit should be the #1 rule, but as for other such rules
besides that, I think pixel artists should appreciate that the person is not claiming a certain pixel(s) (even if the person forgot/didn't ask or comment
to use a pixel BECAUSE dA came up with the genius feature of adding a "mention" where the pixel artist can see if someone credited them).
I think I'm probably the only person who has this way of thinking with pixels; I don't hold on to my f2U pixels.
I make them for anyone and am happy to make them time to time when I can. And I'm most happy when they're in codes anyway
because people come with such awesome stuff (especially that of non-core codes  ).
